Problem

Since a Microsoft update in Q2 of 2023, some users have been experience issues printing in TRX. The PDF comes up fine, but when they send it to the printer, it is printing with the Margins Cutoff. This is an issue with how Microsoft Edge handles PDF files.

Solutions

There are 3 solutions to this issue.

  1. Turn IE mode on after the report generates

  2. Use the Basilisk Browser instead of Microsoft Edge

  3. Open the PDF outside of the browser before printing

Turn On IE Mode

Microsoft Edge is now loading the PDFs in their regular mode, which doesn’t print PDF’s properly. You will need to switch IE mode back on for it to print correctly.

Step-by-Step

  1. Run Report so it opens in new tab

  2. Click on the “Reload tab in Internet Explorer mode” button

    1. It will be in the toolbar if you set it up

    2. Go under the “…” to find if not in toolbar

  3. Print report

Use Basilisk Browser Instead of Edge

Another way to avoid the issue is to switch to using the Basilisk Browser, which runs Java natively and doesn’t have this printing issue.

Follow this guide to set it up: Use Basilisk Browser for TRX (Easiest)

Open Document Outside of Browser

You can avoid the browser issue altogether by saving your document, opening it from Windows Explorer, and printing there.

Step-by-Step

  1. Run Report so it opens in new tab

  2. Hit the Save icon

  3. Open Downloads folder

  4. Open the document

  5. Hit print
