Overview

Different Customers with the same ownership may be in TRX as separate Customers, but you may receive a Check from corporate to pay off Invoices for multiple customers. To account for this in TRX, you will need to setup Customer Layering.

Setups

This section covers what needs to be setup in TRX for Customer Layering to work.

A/R Setup - Create Layers

Under A/R > A/R Special Functions > A/R Setup, you can setup your Customer layers. These will become fields on your Customer records. Examples are Chain, Franchise, Legacy Location, etc. The Required checkbox will require that every customer has that Layer filled out.

A/R Definitions - Define Layers

Under A/R > A/R Special Functions > A/R Definitions., the “Customer Layers” tab we need to define what can be entered for each layer

These can be as broad or specific as you need. To set them up.

  1. Select your Customer Layer using the dropdown

  2. Enter the Chain Code

    1. Shorthand code to enter in the field

    2. e.g. “01-A” or “ARBYS”

  3. Enter Chain Description

    1. e.g. “Chain A” or “Arbys”

Customer Setup - Set Layers for Customers

Once the Layers are all setup, we need to update the Customer records to be in the same layer.

Under A/R > Customer > Enter/Edit Customers, pull up the customer you want to adjust

Under the “User Defined tab, set enter your layer codes in the Customer Layer fields

Cash Receipts - Using Customer Layers

With everything setup, we will now be able to check the “Pay Customer Group” box after entering your Customer/Check on the Cash Receipt screen, to load invoices from other Customers in the same layer(s).
